We started out on Saturday afternoon and headed to our Dad's house in good old Rupert Idaho. We went to dinner with my dad and his wife and then went to visit Grandma Alta who is now 98 and 1/2 years old! Grandma sent us on a hunt to the Burley cemetery to look for some more graves. I love looking for graves. We found them and now I have to do some research on them. My dad did not even know they were there!! Grandma is always full of surprises. I am amazed at what she can still remember and how sharp her mind is at this age.
The next morning we headed out for Hamilton Montana. That is where Shirley lives and we hooked up with her there then headed out the next morning for Oregon to go to Megan's.
Shirley had a wonderful dinner prepared and waiting for us. It was sooo nice. Problem was I had a toothache that started at the start of the trip that was now killing me!! It came out of nowhere. To say the least the next 24 hours was a nightmare, I will spare you the details. You really do not want to relieve this with me, trust me! By the time we got to Megan's I was a mess. I was sick, in pain could barely get out of the car and went to bed at 8:30pm. I slept for 12 hours. The next morning Megan thankfully was able to get me into her dentist and the trip got better from there. It still took about another 24 hours to feel normal again. A toothache is such a horrible pain especially when pain pills do not work! ugggh it was awful.
Anyway onto the fun stuff. First off, Megan and her family were so good to have us stay there. Jenna had to give her bed up for me to stay in and I sooo appreciated it. Jaida was so good to have her Great Aunt hang out in her room too!
After my dentist appointment we went to Nike where Russ works and let me tell you he has the best job and works in the nicest place. Nike is like a mini BYU campus to me. Everyone wears sports clothes to work( of course all Nike wear) and they workout at work. They were playing soccer, running, walking, etc. on their lunch hour. There is a really nice cafeteria, gift shop etc. and I am sure a lot more for the employees. The Nike store is HUGE and you get everything for 1/2 price. Of course I bought me some shoes. I could have spent about $300.00 on clothes and shoes in a heartbeat but I knew I couldn't. dang!
We made Halloween witch boots for our doors and for Rachelle and Mindy too. I did glitter toes on Jaida and Jenna's toenails. They loved it. We toured the Pittock Mansion, went to the Oregon Coast, went to a really unique totally womens type of Restaurant called the Stratford house for a fun lunch. Went to a movie "The Time Travelers wife" which I did not like, Peggy did. The week went by soooo fast. On the way there Peggy took the scenic route to Hamilton and we stopped at a unusual place called Craters of the Moon in Idaho, A cute gift shop in Darby Montana and of course I wanted to stop at each state sign and take my picture. I already had one of me with an Idaho sign so I was happy to get Montana and we never saw Oregon's sign, I was sad about that. The Oregon sign we did see was just plain green so I will have to try another trip someday.
When we came back we drove straight to Rupert to stay with Dad again. We had a nice visit and the next morning we started a hunt out in his garage for his collection of miniature model cars he had and I ended up finding 3 boxes with about 6 to 8 quilts that grandma had made about 8 0r 10 years ago!!! It was like Christmas for all of us, as Dad and Afton forgot they were there! The best part is that Peggy and I scored a couple of new quilts each. I better go digging around in their garage more often. By 11am we were on the last leg of our trip home. We were sad that it was already over, it felt like we had just left.
I am so thankful that I got this opportunity to hang with my big sister. She is a great example to me and a great role model. I love you Peggy and thanks for wanting to hang with your little sister. I had a fabulous time except for the toothache part.
