80 Already!!!?!!

February 13TH was my dad's 80Th Birthday. I can't believe my dad is that old, as that makes me older too! Seems like I was just driving to Idaho with little kids and going to the Lowry Reunion out in Oakley at Grandma Lowry's. Now Grandma is gone the kids are all grown up, we don't go to Oakley anymore and I'm the Grandma and dad is the "Grandpa Great" of the family. Time has got to STOP!!! Geesh!!
So my sister Peggy and I drove up to Rupert Idaho to celebrate this monumental Birthday with him. We arrived there on Saturday and picked Dad and Afton up and went right to Twin Falls to take him to dinner. First Afton wanted to take us to a cool discount home decoration's warehouse she found out about. We were excited to go check it out and we had to hurry as she knew it closed early but was not sure what time. We got there at 3:30 and it closed at 3:00pm!!!! DANG IT! We were so bummed out about that. It looked like an awesome place and it was two stories!!! It happened to be close to old downtown Twin so we drove over there and low and behold there was a bunch of thrift stores in a row!!! I was so excited!! I made everyone go with me to check them out. I had no idea all this fun shopping was only 40 minutes away from my dads house. I now can' t wait for the next "dad trip". I will get over to Twin earlier in the day and do some serious thrift shopping. DI was not far away either so we went there too. We came away with a few treasures. It was fun.

Then dad settled on going to Sizzler for dinner. It was yummy and the waitresses sang him Happy Birthday and gave him a big Strawberry Sunday. so cute.

After dinner we had Dad and Afton take us by the new Twin Falls LDS Temple. Dad & Afton who are not active in the church had gone to the Open house and were excited to tell us all about it and how nice the tour was. I was so happy they had done that and had a great experience.

Saturday night after Dad went to bed I secretly went around the house putting up little signs and posters with little sayings about turning 80. It was fun and sadly I forgot to take pictures of my work. I had even blown up some pictures of him. One as a toddler and one as a teenager. I can't believe I forgot. Anyway, he woke up to them and he said it was fun as he kept finding them as the morning went on.

He then announced that he was going to make US breakfast! Shouldn't we be making breakfast for him I thought... He insisted and I was more than happy to let him do it. He made a big ole fat breakfast of french toast and thick sliced bacon!!! Man, I never eat that much anymore for breakfast but it was sooooo yum!!

We left around 1 PM but before we did, we made sure we shared some of his yummy red velvet Birthday cake and sang Happy Birthday to him. I was not going to miss the cake part! Even after that big breakfast. LOL
We had a great time celebrating with dad and hope he did too. 80 snuck up fast and I have declared that time will stand still from hear on out as I don't want to get any older and neither does he.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD, WE LOVE YOU!!!

Happy Birthday to You, Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday dear Dad....Happy Birthday to you!!

At dinner getting his little Birthday song ditty!

After dinner on the way home Dad and Afton took us by the Twin Falls temple. They both went to the open house. I loved that they did that. My dad is not active in the church so that is why I was so happy he went to the open house. They loved it!

My little sign. I ended up telling them it was there. I kinda wish I hadn't now. I wonder how long they would have gone with it being there and wondering why people were honking at them! :)
