MeMoriAL DaY WeeKenD

I love Memorial Day as it reminds me of my mom. I was always with her growing up going to the cemetery to decorate the graves. She would send me out in the yard to pick lilacs or peony's to take to the graves. To this day Lilacs make me think of my childhood in Mt. Pleasant.
I started off te weekend with my little grandson Thaxton at my moms grave. He was so perplexed to as what we were doing and asking a million questions. It was hard to explain.  I wish I would have told him I was just planting flowers in the park!! LOL

Saturday I headed to Mt. Pleasant to decorate graves with my sister. Well, it was so cold and windy on Saturday that it wasn't that fun to be outside. We placed the flowers so fast at the Mt. Pleasant cemetery graves that I felt like I wasn't even there. Too bad it was such a crappy day.

We headed to Spring City for the historical home tour. I was so glad I wore a hat and brought my rain coat!!! Geesh that wind was cold!!!!! Brrrrrrrr.. I only saw a couple of houses I was really impressed with this year. I think I am done with this venue for awhile. Because of the weather we didn't even make it to Manti. I felt bad as I was so prepared with flowers to take to all the Ancestors I have been reading about in my geneology. I LOVE reading about them and getting to know them. I have found so many graves that don't ever get flowers anymore so I wanted to honor them. Thankfully my Aunt Elouise made it to Gunnison to put flowers on my Henrie Grandparents!
Of course we had to stop for a drink at the spring in Sping City!!!
The grounds of our favorite house.
A fun photo op in the town Hall.

The early pioneers where soooo short! Or maybe it's that we are sooo tall!!
Peggy looking like my mom, making me miss her. Peggy like's to buy a Rhubarb when she goes to the home show.
This was one of our favorite houses that we saw. The grounds were amazing too!

Monday I had Trevor and Rachelles families over and we went on a hike in Pleasant Grove called Battle Creek. It is a easy short hike that ends up at a waterfall. The problem was everyone else in the valley had the same idea!  I knew that it would be busy today but it was fine until you got to the waterfall. Then it was packed.

Cody, got soaked in the waterfall. He loved it!
                                            Trevor's family
                                  On our way back down!
Annsley is so sweet and cute and loves her daddy rides!

Happy boys!

We wore Kaylin out. She loved her first hike!

After the hike we came back to the house and had a BBQ. We invited our neighbor that was alone who is a war vet over to eat with us. We told the kids that he was a soldier and that we thanked him for his service for our freedom. After the fact, I wish I would have taken a picture of the boys saluting our honored guest! That would have been so cute. Dang!

It would have been nice if I would have taken a picture of the BBQ spread but I didn't.....oh well a good time was had by all.
Thank you to all of those soldiers that fought for my freedom, I do not take that freedom for granted.
I am glad that we have a day to honor them.
Oh and WELCOME SUMMER!!! I'm so happy that you are finally here!
