"Mini- Stay- Cations"

I have been reading family history life sketch's of some of my Ancestor's the past month. It all started with Memorial Day and hanging out in cemeteries. I found out that an Ancestor was sent by Brigham Young to settle Rockville UT and that he is buried in the cemetery out there. Last Thursday I told Dan we needed to go to Zion and stop in Rockville and search the cemetery for James "Polly" Brown. So we headed out in the afternoon and lo and behold I found good ole James!!! I was so excited. The cemetery is not pretty at all and is mostly dirt, rocks and weeds. Someone had attended to the grave I am thinking on Memorial Day because it was recently raked and cleaned up. After the grave hunt we headed to Zion's and went on a fun little hike and then we went to dinner. It was a great mini vacation.
Then on Friday we headed to Vegas baby for a Father's Day weekend with Dan's son Danny. Danny's mom was performing with Larry King Friday night at the Encore. We got free tickets and believe it or not Larry was very funny and very entertaining. Shawn did a great job opening the show with a half hour of singing.

Saturday night we got complimentary tickets to Donny and Marie. I was very excited as I have LOVED Donny and Marie since I was a teenager. Danny's grandpa is Marie's manager and so we were very lucky to get to go back stage and hang out in Marie's dressing room. Oh yeah I was loving it. D&M's show was really good. Hey Donny is 51 and Marie is 49 I think and they were dancing around like maniac's and having to sing at the same time. I was very impressed with their stamina. I was wondering the whole time if I could do that. I barely make it through Zumba class!!

While in Vegas we also went to the Madame Tusaud's Wax Museum. I love wax museums. It's fun to see how tall famous people are compared to me etc. and as you can see I have fun taking pictures with them. I know I am weird.

We had a wonderful dinner on Sunday with the Engeman's. Sadly Danny and Tilly unexpectedly had to catch a plane and missed out on dinner. I felt bad for Dan as he was looking so forward to being with his "Danny Boy"at dinner. We missed you two! I wanted to take some fun pictures of them Sunday also as somehow I was a little distracted the previous nights and taking pictures with Donny and Marie and not them.
Well you really can stay close to home and do some fun things. It was a great Father's day weekend. I actually felt like it was Mother's day or my Birthday as I got to do so many fun things.
I sure appreciate my own Father, My uncle Bud, Dan's Dad, my children's father Marco and their stepfather Dan. Thank you for all the many things you have done for me, my kids and grand kids and for all your hard work. I Love you all!
