Campfire Cooking

As you know we have been making it a habit to have Sunday dinner up in the Canyon. My sister Peggy said she made cornbread in the dutch oven and that it was really good. Well I wanted to make it too. I have never cooked in the Dutch oven myself. My mom and sister are pro's at this. I guess that is why I have never done it before, I never really had a reason to. I called it my "Smash Lab" experiment since Cody started the whole Smash Lab thing! (See Rachelle's Blog to see what I am talking about)
Anyway, It was so fun waiting for it to cook and wondering what it was doing inside of that pot....Finally the moment arrived and it worked!! It was so yummy, all it needed was some honey butter, dang, I will remember to make that next time.
Also, this week I reconnected with my niece Vanessa that I have not seen in probably 10 years or more. We had a girls night at STILL my sister-in-law Jorjana's house. I am still so connected to my old in-laws and I always will be. I hate to call them my Ex-in-laws because they mean so much to me. Vanessa lived in Colorado her whole life and just moved to Orem in June. We are so happy to have her so close and so she came to the Canyon with us and hopefully we will be having Sunday dinner with her alot more.
Trevor and Shari were back with us and cute little Thaxton. Trevor made a big fire after we ate dinner as usual. Cody and Landen always find the dirt and love to dig in it. Notice Cody's hand's and face while eating his Smore. So funny!
This might be our last Canyon adventure until next year...we'll see.

  1. Looks like so much fun! We only got up the canyon a handful of times this summer... not nearly enough! We LOVE it and need to enjoy it more! :)
